The Hazzard County Sheriff's Dept. is the Primary Law enforcement agency of Hazzard County. Their Police station is within the courthouse building.

Each officer drives a mid to late '70s Chrysler mid-size B body patrol cars, most often a Dodge Monaco (1976 or 1977) or Plymouth Fury (1977 or 1978). They are armed with nightsticks and pistols. Their uniforms in the television show, The Dukes of Hazzard: Reunion!, and The Dukes of Hazzard: Hazzard in Hollywood! are light blue with blue pants and they wear dark blue campaign hats with the exception of sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane who wears a dark blue cowboy hat. In the newer 2000 films the officers wear khaki colored uniforms with black campaign hats and black pants.
